Summer Institute
At Summer Institute, educators will learn and practise evidence-informed, high-engagement teaching strategies and best instructional practices, led by experienced Australian and US Staff Developers.
Educators will come away from Summer Institute with resources to cultivate and maintain a learning system that insists on rigour, breaks down barriers and advocates for students.
Educators will be empowered through collective efficacy to nurture and grow students’ post-secondary and career readiness skills by coaching them to leverage student agency, opportunity knowledge and rigorous academic preparedness.
Summer Institute 2026 Dates: 2nd – 4th December.

AVID Educator USA Study Tour 9-16 December 2026
Experience the AVID National Conference (Nat Con) in Atlanta and then travel to Florida to connect with global like-minded educators. We will visit their schools and co-design learning experiences that bridge classrooms and continents through a design thinking challenge.
Scenarios: Continents Apart, Solutions Together
Let’s connect AVID students with peers worldwide. Traditional learning is isolated, textbook-based and localised. Our global learning challenge will be collaborative, using real world data with a cross-cultural focus.
For example, students won’t just read about climate change they will work towards finding solutions. Other possible projects might include oral history projects to preserve cultures through intergeneration storytelling, and designing sustainable solutions to shared global problems. Or you may have another authentic learning project you would like your students to pursue globally.
State-Based Path Training
Path Training is an optional, two-day immersion model of professional learning that allows educators to accelerate and deepen the AVID implementation at their school. The training can be customised for individual schools or developed to meet the needs of a school cluster or region in any state. Path Training can cater for educators who are new to AVID and for those who are looking to increase their AVID knowledge and skills. We hold Path Trainings in Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.
2026 AVID Showcase
This AVID showcase will provide an in-person opportunity for educators to see AVID implementation, high impact instructional practices, and learn more about AVID in the classroom. This showcase provides a unique opportunity to see how these two schools partner to implement K-12 AVID strategies to support all students as they transition from primary to secondary and onto tertiary and career success.
