Join AVID Australia in Baldivis from 20 – 21 July for our mid-year immersive professional learning experience for new and experienced AVID educators. Two options are available: 2-day Community of Practice and a 1-day Workshop.
Both events will be held at Baldivis Secondary College.
Option 1: 2-day WA Path (Community of Practice, 2-day format)
Educators learn and practise evidence-informed, high engagement teaching and learning strategies, facilitated by experienced Australian Staff Developers. Two Communities of Practice (CoP) are available – Primary Implementation and AVID Emerge.
Note: The 2-day Path CoP is an alternative format to the 3-day Summer Institute format. The content of the CoP remains the same.
When: Monday, 20 July – 21 July. (Educators are required to attend both days to complete the CoP.)
Primary Implementation
- Cost per AVID school participant: $1029 (+ GST).
- Cost per non-licensed AVID School participant: $1129 (+ GST).
AVID Emerge
- Cost per AVID school participant: $1255 (+ GST). Please note: AVID Emerge includes a year-long subscription to the digital toolkit.
- Cost per non-licensed AVID School participant: $1355 (+ GST).

Option 2: 1-day Workshop Event
A day of workshops focusing on AVID Core Strategies explored through the specific lens of each learning area. Developed by AVID Australia in conjunction with WA AVID educators, participants are invited to step into a vibrant community of passionate educators who are leading the way in student success. WA educators will share AVID strategies and experience on how they achieve high engagement and rigorous learning.
When: Monday, 20 July
Cost per AVID school participant: $207 (+ GST).
Cost per non-licensed AVID School participant: $257 (+ GST).

In the 2-day Communities of Practice (CoP) event, educators learn and practise evidence-informed, high engagement teaching and learning strategies, facilitated by experienced Australian Staff Developers.

AVID Emerge
Available to AVID Schools and non-licensed AVID Schools
This learning experience is recommended for AVID primary and secondary educators across all content areas who are new to and experienced with AVID implementation.
Course Description
AVID Emerge provides educators with a toolkit of practical routines and practices to differentiate for students who are not yet meeting year level expectations in reading and writing or who are new to learning English. Through intentional lesson design and explicit instruction, Emerge provides classroom-ready strategies for scaffolded high-impact lessons to support learning and boost engagement for all students. Educators use the content of the AVID Emerge Digital Toolkit.
Primary Implementation
Available to AVID Schools and non-licensed AVID Schools

Course Description
Primary Implementation supports educators with explicit high impact instruction in Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organisation, and Reading(WICOR®). AVID Primary nurtures student agency and equips students with the foundational skills and mindsets they need to activate their own potential and engage with rigorous learning. Educators will refine their instructional practices to ensure students develop essential skills, such as organisation, critical thinking and student voice.

In the 1-day Workshop event, workshops have been developed by WA AVID educators in conjunction with AVID Australia. WA educators will share AVID strategies and experience on how they achieve high engagement and rigorous learning.

Collaborative strategies that give every student a voice are integrated throughout the workshop.
