About Queensland Path

AVID Queensland Path is a two-day immersion model of professional learning that accelerates and deepens AVID implementation at your school.

This year there are 3 Communities of Practice (CoP) to select from.

Note: A CoP will only run if there are sufficient numbers. If a CoP is cancelled due to insufficient numbers, participants will be contacted with options.

Communities of Practice

AVID Emerge

AVID Emerge provides primary and secondary educators with a toolkit of practical routines and practices to differentiate for students who are not yet meeting year level expectations in reading and writing or who are new to learning English. Through intentional lesson design and explicit instruction, Emerge provides classroom-ready strategies for scaffolded high-impact lessons to support learning and boost engagement for all students. Educators use the content of the AVID Emerge Digital Toolkit.

Mathematics

Mathematics immerses educators in strategies to teach students how to read, write, think and speak like
mathematicians. Through purposeful engagement in Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organisation, and Reading
(WICOR®), educators will gain an understanding of how to build foundational skills students need for tertiary and
career readiness.

Student Success

Student Success is a foundational differentiated professional learning experience that examines instructional strategies and methodologies that support the AVID Tertiary and Career Readiness Framework and Essential Skills in learning environments outside the core content areas. Educators will learn the importance of disciplinary literacy, experience WICOR® in action, and understand how to craft learning experiences that support rigorous academic preparedness, student agency, and student success skills for their specific role.
